For the minor International Urban Redevelopment, Built Environment lecturers Paul van de Coevering and Ineke Spapé travelled to Calgary together with four students from Breda University of Applied Sciences.

During the minor, the students worked on challenges related to car dependency, social cohesion, the quality of public space and multimodal travel behaviour in metropolitan areas around the world. The minor takes an interdisciplinary approach and includes students from several disciplines. This year, the students focused on the redevelopment of the main street in downtown Okotoks and the Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Southeast Seattle.

In Okotoks, the group organised workshops, presented visions and designs for more attractive and inclusive neighbourhoods and …. did some live guerrilla urbanism! Watch the impressions of the trip, including a recap video created by Koen Ploum!
